If you are looking for only vegan recipes (no animal products, including dairy, eggs, and meat), see the Vegan Recipe Index.
All the of the following recipes are free from meat, fowl, fish, seafood and other animal products, but may include eggs, dairy products, and honey. For cheese to truly be vegetarian, it must not contain animal-sourced rennet, a coagulant derived from the stomachs of slaughtered cattle.
The following ingredients are not considered vegetarian:
Gelatin (found in many dairy products, desserts, and confections)
Fish and fish by-products (such as fish sauce, bonito flakes, shrimp paste)
Seafood (such as lobster, shrimp, clams)
Animal-based broths or stocks (such as chicken bouillon)
Confections such as red glaze (made from crushed beetles)
