Fruit smoothies are fast and versatile. With ingredients on hand, you can whip one up in minutes. Added ingredients, like hemp protein, cold pressed oils, or powdered greens can jolt the nutrient content up a quotient, making it so much more than just a cold sweet treat. Depending on the ingredients you add, a smoothie can make a good replacement meal that can be grabbed for an on-the-run pick-me-up.

Two Basic Ingredients

The basic ingredients in these smoothies are frozen bananas and non-dairy milk. Having frozen bananas and powdered non-dairy milk on hand makes whizzing a nutrient-rich smoothie up fast and fuss free. Simply peel ripe bananas and store in zip bags in the freezer till you need them. These smoothies make a great addition to any brunch menu.

Try the recipes below to taste the great flavor possibilities available when you start with just two basic ingredients. Let your imagination go, have fun, and enjoy the goodness of vegan smoothies!

Peach Mango Smoothies

  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) frozen, chopped mango
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) frozen peach slices
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 500 ml (2 cups) soy, rice or almond milk
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) flax seed oil, or blended omega rich oils (for example: Udo’s 3-6-9 Oil Blend)

On high speed, process all ingredients till thick and creamy. Serve in chilled glasses. Makes 4 servings.

Tip: Buy mangoes and peaches in season when prices are most reasonable, then cut and freeze for later use.

Carob (or Chocolate) Peanut Butter Smoothie

  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 500 ml (2 cups) non-dairy milk
  • 15 ml (1 tablespoon) peanut butter (use a brand that contains 0 trans fats)
  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) carob powder (or cocoa)
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) cold-pressed oil like flax seed oil, or Udo’s 3-6-9 Oil Blend (Optional)

On high speed, process all ingredients till thick and creamy. Serve in chilled glasses. Makes 4 servings.

Very Berry Smoothie

  • 250 ml (1 cup) berries of your choice
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 500 ml (2 cups) soy, rice or almond milk

5 ml (1 teaspoon) flax seed oil, or blended omega rich oils (for example: Udo’s 3-6-9 Oil Blend) (Optional)

On high speed, process all ingredients till thick and creamy. Serve in chilled glasses. Makes 4 servings.

Pina Colada Smoothie

  • 250 ml (1 cup) pineapple chunks
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 250 ml (1 cups) soy, rice or almond milk
  • 250 ml (1 cups) coconut milk
  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) flax seed oil, or blended omega rich oils (for example: Udo’s 3-6-9 Oil Blend) (Optional)

On high speed, process all ingredients till thick and creamy. Serve in chilled glasses. Makes 4 servings.

I have a really great recipe too!
BANANA BLITZ!
What you need:
1 banana (over ripe is ok too)
A blender
2 cups of rice/soy/almond milk
5 ice cubes
3-5 frozen pinapple slices (optional)
a swig of vanilla extract
a shake of cinnamon
2 tablespoons of surgar.
put it all together and blend until smoothe

Thanks for that Banana Blitz recipe! It sound delicious. I'd leave out the sugar, though. So many people are becoming insulin resistant because of our high sugar intake. Low glycemic foods are the way to go for better health!

Another great one to try:
1 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
1 frozen banana
1/2 frozen mangos
1 1/2 cups fresh spinach

This is how I like mine, but playing with the amounts to get the taste to your liking is important!
